Bank Security - Stun Gun Door HandlesAs I was in the line at a local bank yesterday, I noticed the 5 cameras mounted on the wall behind the tellers. Apparently cameras and exploding ink packs , are the only physical deterant to robbers. It got me wondering if thats the best they can do considering we are in the "super science age". Thought i was the first to publish this phrase but there is a childrens book by that name. Considering all the technical wizardy that banks can afford, it struck me as kind of ignorant that they are making record profits, charging me for every little service they can, and yet the best they can do with all that money is cameras and exploding ink packs. So why not stun gun door handles ? The tellers could have a button on the floor they simply have to press that would electrify the door handle, stunning the robber on the way out. Obviously if there were more than one it would not work , but for those solo robberies, they would be walking ducks. A concept for multiple robbers might be tracking cameras that use an infra-red or a microwave type of sensor that could act like a local positioning system. It would take just one employee safe behind the scenes a moment to activate it. For example as they move about the room, they may cross a certain cameras field, the bank employee behind the scenes activates a second device that targets that position with a stun gun or tranquilizer. |
