Helium InventionI remember contacting a U of T professor regarding the possiblity of using a small helium filled blimp to provide enough lift that you could use an arm powered wing system to fly. The idea being that since it takes such a large a volume of gas to get total lift for an average person that if you have a 160 lb man getting 100 lbs of lift he would possibly be able to kind of jump and float or using a wings aparatus achieve flight. So if a person was harnessed to the underside of a small balloon and had stilts on his arms as well as his legs, and with a percentage of his weight lifted by the balloon, they would be able to control the device like a giant Daddy Long Legs. Which reminds us of another story about a cross between goats and spiders. We will be publishing details on that in a coming article. |
