Trace Attacks and Remove Viruses

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure !

Here is a very interesting phenomenon.
The dynamic IP's assigned to hunderds of millions of computer users, combined with the popularity of file sharing peer to peer software like Kazaa or Napstar, has left the internet literally infested with millions of computers constantly trying to connect to computers whos IP's have inevitably been recycled.
If you use popular firewalls like Norton or Sygate, look at your traffic logs as soon as you log on to the network. Who are all those IP's trying to connect on Port 11367 or umpteen others ? If there are only a few attempts on a few ports you can be reasonably sure its a zombied computer infected with a virus an not a personal attack.
For example IP's trying to connect on Port 6346 are using a port typical for peer to peer programs. When you ad up the zombie attacks the intentionl hackers and the recycled IP's, you end up with a constant threat to your security and the performance of your computer.Add the time it takes researching installing monitoring etc and you will start to see just how badly the governments of the world have dropped the ball and still drag their feet on the whole issue of some kind of standards and law enforcemant for the wild west enviroment known as the internet.
