There are rarely any truly great horror movies. Over the years there have been a lot of good ones but also a lot of plainly formulated paint by numbers junk. Rarely is there an imaginative plot with decent special effects. Like mills, some film companies will churn out really cheap productions, mixing scenes of gore with scantily clad women, running and screaming, generally just freaking out while some guy chases them around. Slap on a happening soundtrack by a few pop bands and voila !





I must admit though, after watching a few of these types of films I did experience feelings of dread and horror. But that was after the movie when I realized i could have rented something else with my 5 bucks.

Underworld
What more can you ask for ? Werewolves and Vampires with high tech weaponry and eye candy Kate Beckinsdales slinky form wrapped in skin tight rubber.
Hide and Seek
This movie is a little under rated. There are quite a few bad reviews out there about Hide And Seek but if you are looking for a nice little chiller you will find many that don't compare to it. Not just for fans of Robert DeNiro, this movie is genuinely creepy.
Van Helsing
The absolute best monster fest ! Van Helsing set a new standard delivering state of the art special effects and genuinely creepy Gothic scenery. Features excellent detai
